From November 22 to 25 the 11th Annual Professional Conference and General Assembly will take place at the headquarters of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) in Laxemburg, Austria. Under the theme, "Standards in Integrity”, practitioners from all over Europe will convene to further their common goals in independent police oversight and the fight against corruption. The draft papers on the principles of European Standards for Police Oversight Bodies (POBs), Anti-Corruption Authorities (ACAs), and Independence will be presented to the General Assembly for discussion and adoption. Inaugural Anti-Corruption Leadership Group Forum: Melbourne
The Inaugural meetings of the Anti-Corruption Leadership Group will focus on how business can respond from a policy and compliance perspective to obligations imposed by anti-bribery laws in Australia and internationally, including by the recently introduced UK Bribery Act. The program will update on domestic and international developments in anti-bribery laws, including the UK Bribery Act, which came into force on 1 July 2011. It will also focus on how business can respond to these obligations, through its policy and compliance activity. This issue will be explored through presentations by leading government representatives, followed by a business focused panel that will discuss experiences with achieving compliance in Australia and on the ground, overseas. The 5th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the IAACA will be held in Marrakech Morocco from October 22 to 23, 2011. The conference is followed by the 4th Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (CoSP), which will be held from October 24 to 29, 2011 in Marrakech Morocco. Both the 2011 IAACA conference and the CoSP are open only to registered participants. European Anti-Corruption Training (EACT)
The Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption, Austria (BAK) in collaboration with the anti-corruption authorities of Slovenia and Slovakia organized the European Anti-Corruption Training (EACT) kick off conference from September 19 to 24, 2011. More than 50 participants from 27 countries, in particular representatives of anti-corruption bodies, police and public prosecution offices, have come to Austria to thoroughly analyze and discuss the phenomenon of corruption under the motto of EACT, "Practice meets Practice”. The Conference will focus on the issues of investigation, prevention and international cooperation; international working groups covering these three areas will be established. The working groups will meet several times in 2012 to develop expertise and best practice models, which are to be documented in a manual for anti-corruption practitioners. [field_event_link] -

The International Corruption Hunters Alliance
Department of Institutional Integrity (INT) at the World Bank organized “The International Corruption Hunters Alliance” conference from December 6 to 8, 2010, in Washington, DC. The event brought together over 300 anti-corruption enforcement personnel in client countries, authorities from countries that have prosecuted bribe payers, private sector representatives, civil society leaders, and members of international organizations, to craft a truly global enforcement alliance. The View From Inside Anti-corruption Authorities: A Workshop in Search of Accountability and Effectiveness
The Public Sector and Governance Group at the World Bank, in collaboration with the United Nation Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the US State Department and the European Commission, hosted a two day workshop exploring Anti-Corruption Authorities (ACAs). This event brought together ACA Heads, practitioners, academics and other key stakeholders from around the globe to discuss key issues related to establishing, managing and sustaining an ACA. 32 participants from 20 countries attended. The primary objective of the workshop was to discuss different approaches to measuring and evaluating effectiveness and impact but the workshop also included issues around institutional structures, ACA mandates, resources and resource allocation, political challenges and collaborating across the public sector. Using Communication Approaches and Techniques to Support Anti‐Corruption Efforts: A Learning Event for Anti‐Corruption Agencies
CommGAP and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime organized a learning event held at the UN headquarters in Vienna, Austria, on November 17 - 19, 2008. This event brought together officers of anti-corruption commissions who have decision-making authority over their agencies’ communication-related activities as well as applied scholars in communication, policy studies, and the allied social sciences to discuss and debate the role of communication approaches and techniques in bolstering anti-corruption efforts. This learning event provided an opportunity to deepen understanding and codify good practices on the role of communication in supporting anti-corruption work. [field_event_link]
